Public Education Program

One of the biggest barriers to successful integration into the community for persons with a mental illness are the myths, stigma and preconceptions held by society. Mental illnesses are still feared and misunderstood by many people, but the fear will disappear as people learn more about them.

The Public Education program promotes understanding of mental illness and raises awareness of factors which contribute to mental health. Increased understanding helps individuals to make decisions that promote mental health and increases acceptance of people with a mental illness in the community.

Visit our Mental Health Library. We have a current collection of books, videos, tapes and brochures on mental illness, coping strategies and relaxation techniques for maintaining mental health and well-being. You are welcome to come in, browse, and borrow these resources for up to 3 weeks.
