The physical danger signals of stress can include tight and aching muscles, tension headaches or migraines, back pain, nausea, low-grade infections, dizziness, heart palpitations, increased perspiration, weight loss or gain, and unusual changes in body temperature.
Other danger signals may include difficulty sitting still, irritation and impatience, poor memory, indecisiveness, mental confusion, difficulty falling asleep, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, feeling generally sick, having low energy or feeling lethargic, alcohol or drug use and lack of creativity.
You may also feel out of control, a loss of direction, suffer panic attacks, feel helpless or trapped, experience mood swings and apathy.
The results of chronic stress are frightening. Although it is not realistic to think we can live a stress free life, your goals should be to avoid getting stuck in a chronic stage of stress.
